One of the numerous ways the nonprofit Law Society of Singapore helps its members and the community is by ensuring that every lawyer in private practice has comprehensive civil liability insurance cover.
PROVIDING GOOD COUNSEL
This liability coverage program was introduced in 1991. Lockton’s involvement with it began years earlier, when its predecessor firm began working with the Law Society to create, negotiate and subsequently place the program.
The legal profession in Singapore has since undergone many changes, opening its doors to foreign lawyers, incorporating law practices, and volunteering services in pro bono clinics.

In keeping with the Law Society’s mission, Lockton’s predecessor firm even helped establish a special rescue fund to meet insured members’ claims when a previous insurer defaulted a few years ago.
